Dean-Keener-Crim open house The public is invited to visit the Dean-Keener-Crim House Museum, Tuesday, May 30, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The open house is sponsored by the Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation as the final event in Kilgore's National Historic Preservation Month activities. When the restoration is complete, the Dean-Keener-Crim house will be open as a family-life museum focusing predominantly on the oilboom decades of the thirties and forties. It will be open for tours and educational activities. The interior restoration is not complete, but it is remarkably well preserved. An unusual linoleum rug was uncovered in one of the downstairs bedrooms. Visitors can see all downstairs rooms during the open house. Lemonade will be served from the Crim family dining room table. Preserving the house for the enjoyment and education of future generations requires time and money. A recent fund raising MotherDaughter Vintage Fashions Style Show raised $2,700 to benefit the conservation efforts and the DeanKeener-Crim. The National Preservation Month open house gives everyone an opportunity to visit the structure, which is also open by appointment.
