DAR members hold luncheon at Meadowbrook Country Club

Members of the Samuel Paul Dinkins Chapter of DAR welcomed DAR chapters from Longview and Gladewater at the annual Joint meeting of the four Gregg County Chapters, Tuesday at noon.

Hostesses for the luncheon at Meadowbrook Country Club were Dorothy Griffin, Margaret Merritt, and Sylvia Nelson.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the Unites States of America was led by Pamela Word, Regent of Cherokee Trace Chapter of Gladewater. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas Flag

was led by Betty Boone, Regent of Captain William Young Chapter of Longview.

The American's Creed was led by Jean Jones, Regent of Aaron Burleson Chapter of Longview. Martha Smith accompanied members on the piano as they sang the national anthem.

The National Defense Report was given by Dorothy Brooks, First Vice-President, and Nancy Bullock, Second Vice-Regent, introduced the speaker Dorothy Bruce, who is currently Division III Chairman of Texas. She has served DAR in many capacities including serving as chairman of two national committees.

Her program was titled "DAR Potpourri". Members were quizzed about various DAR facts and gave the answers. Following the program, Dorothy Bruce also installed officers for Captain William Young Chapter of Longview as follows: Regent, Betty Boone; Vice-Regent, Alma Ruth Willeford; Chaplain, Dorothy Landers; Rec. Sec'y, Janette Messenger; Corr. Sec'y, Mary Mitchell; Treasurer, Lark Kourdro; Registrar, Glenda Wood.

Officers installed for Cherokee Trace Chapter of Gladewater are as follows: Regent, Marie Jackson; Vice-Regent, Elaine Roddy; Chaplain, Holley Berry;

Secretary, Pamela Word; Treasurer, Martha Klein; Registrar, Shelly Rardin; Historian, Ruth Lawrence. Following the installation

service, the meeting was adjourned by President Sylvia Nelson of the host chapter.
