Club Au Courant installs 06-07 officers

Club Au Courant met on May 17 at the Roseville Bed and Breakfast in Hallsville. Members enjoyed touring the gardens and house before being served lunch. President Dorothy Camp conducted a short business meeting during which she asked members to consider raising club dues from $10 to $15. After some discussion, the change was approved. It was also agreed that the club by-laws should be rewritten to allow the change.

Ima Roberts, the 06-07 program chairman, announced the theme for next year's program would be "Lesser Known Women". She asked members to choose dates to give programs

and to hostess meetings. Service chairman Janis Slayter said she collected $40 for today's Helping Hands Donation. Social chairman Deana Covin discussed the socials for next year.

President Camp introduced JoAnn Whiteside to install the officers for the 06-07 club year. Using famous quotes as the basis she outlined the duties of each office and challenged the candidates to excel in their jobs. Those installed were: Pat Sers, president; Ima Roberts and Mickey Hughey, co-1st vice presidents; Deana Covin, 2nd vice president; Marion Dovel, secretary; Yvonne Kennedy, Treasurer;

Dorothy Camp, reporter; Opal Stewart, parliamentarian; Janis Slayter, historian.

President Camp thanked members and officers for their cooperation in making the 05-06 a successful club year. Opal Stewart adjourned the meeting with reading the Club Collect.

Those present were: Peggy Campbell, Dorothy Camp, Mary Jane Clapp, Deana Covin, Marion Dovel, Mickey Hughey, Yvonne Kennedy, Kay McKinley, Agnes Oliver, Vivian Patton, Ima Roberts, Janis Slayter, Opal Stewart, Charlotte Austin, Jan Elliot, Jean Robertson, Deanne Wilson, Charissa York, and guest, Thelma Pepper.
