KILGOROUND
THE excitement is growing for the staff at the Kilgore Community Crisis Center as they continue to prepare for what they hope to believe will be their second largest fundraiser of the year.
A "CASINO Night" fundraiser event has been scheduled for June 17 at the KRS Enterprises Airplane Hangar at the East Texas Regional Airport.
"It takes two large fundraisers per year to help pull the Crisis Center through with their yearly expenses," said Nancy Lofton, director of the facility. In the past, the crisis center has held fundraisers in the way of dinners, galas and walk-a-thons. However, other establishments jumped on the same band wagon and the interest for repeat fundraisers is no longer of interest to the public.
"We must have something new, fun and different to offer Kilgore and the surrounding communities," said Loftin. A unanimous vote from the board of directors at a re
cent meeting has pushed the "Casino Night" ahead with full force.
With the belief that the evening of fun and entertainment should be handled as professionally as possible, they have contracted a gaming organization out of Dallas to bring in all of the gaming tables needed to accommodate approximately 500-700 people.
Throughout the evening those participating in the event will be able to enjoy a live band, buffet style dining, cash bar, dancing and a silent auction. Tables will include blackjack, roulette, craps and Texas Hold 'Em games. Donations toward the silent auction are being delivered and displayed at the Crisis Center and include American Eagle Airline round trip tickets, NASCAR tickets, a mounted longhorns spread, leather vanity case, necklace from Daiches Jewelers, original framed oil paintings, Six Flag tickets, etc.
"We still have room for a couple sponsors," said Loftin. "And individual tickets may be purchased ahead of time." The Casino Night will be held from 7p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday June 17. For further information contact Pam Cameron at 903984-3019.
The Kilgore Community Crisis Center benefits the communities of Kilgore, Henderson and Marshall by offering a safe haven, counseling, medical and job placement to those caught in abusive relationships.

If you are looking for a break in food costs or are faced with the dilemma of purchasing prescriptions or eating for a month check into the Angel Food Ministries being offered by Kilgore Bible Church. This ministry provides boxes of food at a
minimum cost. Orders are now being taken for the June.
"This is an option to helping your family make the most of your family income," said Amy Wingfied, spokesperson for the ministry. "We make no profit off this project. It is a ministry to families. Additional packages can be purchased along with the basic boxes and I'm guessing that's where the ministry makes a little profit. The basic boxes contain everything including meat to provide nourishing, tasty meals for your family."
If you are interested in the program and would like to receive a copy of the June menu and order form call Amy at 903-988-0616 or drop by Kilgore Bible Church. All orders must be turned in and paid for to Kilgore
Bible Church by Tuesday, June 6, 2006. Pick up day is Saturday, June 24, at Kilgore Bible Church or Overton Missionary Baptist Church in Overton.
