KHS SOFTBALL TEAM HONORED AT BANQUET
The entire Kilgore High School softball team (above), including coaches Kasey Polk (far left, back row), Melissa Burrow (far right, back row) and Susan Pittman (next to Polk) celebrated their 2006 season Monday night with the annual end-of-season banquet, held this year at Griffin Ranch. Polk gave out the team's own awards. Shelby Savony, a junior, won most valuable player. Senior pitcher Mackenzie Sharp won defensive MVP, and senior shortstop Milicent Dickey won offensive MVP. The most improved player award was shared by sophomore first baseman Whitney Brown and senior left fielder Toni Griffin. Center fielder Sydnay Dick won the Heart & Hustle Coach's Award. It was the final season with KHS not only for the seniors, but for coaches Polk and Burrow. The News Herald congratulates coaches Polk and Burrow for a job well done, and wishes the senior players and the coaches best of luck.
