The Maude Laird Middle School tennis team participated in a six-team tournament in Gladewater last week. Kilgore faced Gladewater, Springhill, Center and Hubbard Middle School out of Tyler. Coach Dana Snead, MLMS tennis coach said his team finished first overall in the eighth grade division coming home with seven trophies. (photo front left to right) Josh Way, 14, and Kade Bittick, 14, took first consolation in boys doubles, Jody Madding, 14, finished second in boys singles, Josh Bailey, 14, and Eric Applegate, 14, took first in boys doubles, Shelby Duncan, 14, and Holly Fountain, 14, finished first in girls doubles. Not pictured are Chelsey Cox, Linsey Cardosos, Kaylea Clower and Jeremy Berryhill. All participated winning matches but did not place.
