Gregg County to receive funds to improve airport

Will give additional boost following nearly $1,500,000 grant in March

WASHINGTON - Gregg County will receive an additional $214,700 in funding to improve the East Texas Regional Airport in Longview, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn announced Friday.

The grant will be used to construct a service road and improve airport drainage. In March, the airport also received $1,490,550 for general improvements.

"This additional funding for East Texas Regional Airport improvements is another important part of keeping the airport safe for travelers and attracting growth to the area," Cornyn said. "A safe,

well-maintained airport is important to expanding opportunities and I applaud the local leaders for securing this grant."

The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

Sen. Cornyn is a member of the Armed Services; Judiciary; Budget, Small Business and Entrepreneurship; and Joint Economic committees. He is also chairman of the subcommittees on Immigration, Border Security and Citizenship as well as Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
