SPC plans for city's future

Kilgore's Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at Kilgore City Hall.

The members met several weeks ago for an organization meeting.

City Manager Jeff Howell told the 28 members that the formation of this committee is the first step toward developing a road map for the city's future Thursday night.

Mayor Joe T. Parker said the main objective of the committee was to "produce the best road map to the future for the city."

Howell explained the committee is charged with developing a mission statement and vision for the city.

The plan will include identification of Kilgore's strength's, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT).

Committee members were asked to visit with their neighbors and friends and come up with a SWOT list for discussion at the May 2 meeting Members of the SPC include

Latane Speer, Bill Woodall, Don Bowne, Brian Bittick, Bobby Bustin, Reece Nichols, Bob Davis, Robby Hope, Chuck Maxwell. Roland Velvin, Gary Boyd, Bobby Beane, Bill Bass, Sanford Stein, Ronnie Spradlin, Mike Coston, Tom Brown, Sue Brown, Diana Ponder, Peggy Bowne, J.T. Konczak, Carol Windham, Manny Almanza, Ronnie Moore, Karen Custer, B.J. Owen, David Hackley, Tim Hobbs and Mike Green.
