KILGOROUND
FESTIVAL organizers have had three requests from company members to bring their pets with them for the 2006 season. However, Kilgore College does not permit pets in the dorms. All three would be happy to pay some affordable amount plus provide all their pets food and other needs. Anyone interested or knowing of anyone who would be interested in adopting a company member and/or their pet for the summer contact John Dodd, TSF managing director, at (903)9838119 or JDoddTSF@aol.com. CAST members and pets looking for summer housing include: ROSEANN Sheridan, drector for The School for Husbands, May 14 June 27, is looking for someone to open their home for her and her dog that is a "house pet, great dog, quiet, older, sedate, easy with people." Barbara is a professor at the University of Wisconsin Madison and is also "quiet, older, sedate, easy with people" Roseann will have a car. Meals will be provided by TSF Meal plan (for Roseann not the dog). She would prefer not to board her pet in Madison for the six weeks she will be in Kilgore. GREGG Brevoort, director for Coriolanus, May 14 June 29, is also looking for a home with dog lovers. Sparky is a house pet and small. Gregg is a freelance director and just re-located to Los Angeles, having been New Yorkbased for the past 10 years. Gregg will not have a car so would need something in walking distance from the Kilgore College campus. ACTOR Scott Shattuck, May 14 July 26, is a professor at Manhattan Marymont-Tarrytown and lives in Manhattan. He is a seven year TSF alum. Scott is looking for a fenced yard to place his dog for the summer. Alexy is a 50-pound, caramelcolored Ridgeback-Terrier mix. She is a high-energy three-year old that is house trained and knows her obedience commands. She is friendly, sweet and delightful. She gets along well with other dogs and with humans (of all descriptions). She would love to be a yard dog for the summer. Scott will not have a car and would like to visit her when he is free from rehearsals, but the TSF can loan him a car if not within walking distance. Any pet lovers out there? +++ THE 1946 graduating class of Sabine High School will have a reunion April 28 at the home of James B. and Betty Thompson of Mineola. The 1942 freshman class began their journey with 64 classmates. World War II took its toll since a number volunteered for military service. Only 30 of the original 64 remained to graduate in 1946. Today about 18 members remain. There will be a lot of memories to share April 28 from band members, majorettes, football players and basketball team. Their class motto was "Hats Off to the Past -Coats Off to the Future." Most of the graduates went on to successful careers as nurses, scientists, steel industry executive, ministers, missionary and other with jobs related to the East Texas Oil Field. +++ KILGORE certainly has a large number of pizza places. I guess that's the result of being a college town. Soon our town may be know as "The City of Pizzas." Why not combine the two -keep the current "City of Stars" logo and have our local pizzerias develop star-shaped pizzas! +++ SPEAKING of food --For many years the Pirtle UMC had the reputation for the Best Annual Bar-BQue Around. In recent years, due to the small congregation, a major fundraiser was not possible. But things have change and IT'S BACK! The Pirtle Bar-B-Cue will be held Saturday, April 29, on the church grounds from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p. For $6.50 you get a barbecue beef sandwich, potato salad, beans, iced tea and all the trimmings. For more information call (903)643-2841. +++ I STAND corrected ... Got this note from Rob Schleier about my mention of Texas losing (sniff, sniff) in the NCAA Tournament and how nice it would be to have THE University have double championships. He wrote, "With all due respect, The University of Texas was a double national champion in 2005. Not only did they win the national championship in football, they also won the College World Series in the spring." Sorry about that 'Horns fans. +++ BLOWING out birthday candles today are Glenda Velvin, Emily Dowell, Hope Joyner, Mrs. Paul Bizzell, Sammy Lane McKnight, Mrs. Dot Till, Elzie Halbert, Phyllis Hopper, Mrs. Carl Boyd, Jr., James Hughes and daughter April Hughes, Tully Choice, Mary Jackson, Pat Russell, Verna J. Granberry, Eli Bagley, Aldophus Bagley, B.J. White, Tommy Glasco, Maggie Crim, Ann Cargill, Monique Harvey, Kim Leur, Ashley Cagle. Anniversary greetings go out to Darry and Shirley Holman.
