With the arrival of spring, Rusk County 4-H'ers prepare for the District V 4-H Fashion Show. This year the event will be held Saturday, Apr. 8, at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Representing Rusk County will be Tiffani Moore, competing in the Junior Division-Clothing Construction Speciality Category, Kayla Robinson, competing in the Junior Division Buying Casual Category, Claire Shepherd, competing in the Junior Division-Clothing Construction-Casual Category, and Lauren Jones, competing in the Senior Division Buying Casual Category.

During the Clothing and Textile Project, the four 4-H'ers participated in various workshops on the following topics: "Skin Care and Nail Care", "Accessories and Scarves", "Characteristics of Natural and Man-Made Fibers Using the Fiber Burn Test", "How to Take Body Measurements and Determining Pattern Size", "Sewing Notions and their Uses", "Types of Buttons and How to Sew On a Button", "Fabric Car e and Stain Removal", and "Parts of a Sewing Machine". The final workshop was held Feb. 13, and the 4-H'ers completed a clothing construction project which was a "Snoopy" theme Valentine print standard pillowcase. Each one of the participants constructed their own pillowcase and cut out the pattern/material, stitched the pillowcase on a sewing machine, finished out the pillowcase hem, and professionally pressed the finished product. In addition to the workshops, participants were involved in community service projects related to clothing and competed in the Rusk County 4-H Fashion Show held Monday, Mar. 13.
