"Pearl" and Zager entertain Joymakers The Joymakers of Forest Home Baptist Church met Mar. 14, at 6 p.m. in the Richardson Building. A covered-dish supper was served with Lou Hanks' coconut cake being a favorite. Presiding over the meeting was Doris Snow while Harold Ray Guin gave the invocation. Neola Leach and Banona decorated each table with St. Patrick's Day decorations of baskets of greenery, candy. vases, and leprechauns. "Happy Birthday" was sung to Louise McKinney, Harold Pierce, Lavelle Jenkins, and Annie Dorsey for her 94 years. Sue Clements introduced the entertainers for the evening. "Minnie Pearl" alias Opal Stewart, shared jokes and tales about the suburb of Kilgore which is Longview. She also shared her political agenda and did some campaigning. Mr. Bob Zager shared his talent of singing an playing the guitar. His singing moved Talmadge Mercer to tears and sobs when he sang "Ain't Got Nobody." Zager was also joined by Martha Smith and Jakey Still. Ida Wyatt was the special member of the night. Members also attending were Travis and Betty Crews, Neola Leach, Banona Watson, J.C. and Betty Bearden, Lavelle Jenkins, Don and Betty Bonds, Billie Sue Bonds, G.W. and Elaine Woodmansee, Louise McKinney, Carnelle and Ann Waller, Rue Taylor, Barbara Bass, Art and Doris Snow, Harold Ray and Joanne Guin, Ertis Murphy, Johnny and Sue Clements. Also attending were Anna Bess Hedrick, Lou Hanks, Betty Ware, Betty Morris, Jewel Matlock, Jo Poteet, Ruth Johnson, Nelda Foster, Travis and LaWana Fried, Harold and Wanda Pierce, Herman and Eloise Duncan, Gertie Lacy, Howard and Helen Alexander, George and Doris Waggoner, Jakey Still, Talmadge and Leverne Mercer, Betty Lee, LeeAnn Warrer. Special guests were Gary and Theresa Davis, Annie Dorsey, Martha Smith, Opal Stewart, Bob Zager, and Rita Chappell. It was agreed the next meeting would be held Apr. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Richardson Building. In the closing, Talmadge Mercer led the group in singing "Blest Be the Tie."
