MADELYNE L. SKINNER

Funeral services for Madelyne L. Skinner, 55, of Longview, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Victory Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Robert Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Baptist Cemetery in Kilgore.. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.

She was born in Birmingham, AL. on April 6, 1950 to the parentage of Joe Nathan and Bertha Stewart Kelley. She departed this beautiful life on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Crest Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Longview.

Early in her youth she united with the Twenty-third Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. Upon relocation to Detroit, MI she became a member at Greater Grace Church and in Colorado Springs, CO Emanuel Lutheran Church held her membership. Currently her membership as of 2005 was held at Bethel Temple of Longview.

In 1968, she graduated from Western Oldham High School in Birmingham, AL. She later graduated from JTPA Nursing School in Detroit, MI.

In her adult life she worked in retail and as a factory worker. Her professional career ended with work as a registered nurse in Detroit, Colorado Springs, Tyler and Longview. She was employed at Azalea Place Nursing Center at the time that her health failed.

Madelyne was known for a very outgoing personality. She was also very family oriented and worked diligently to keep the family structure secure.

In early adulthood, she married Willie C. Andrews and three children were born to the union. Later in 2005, she married James Skinner.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Kevin Andrews, a sister, Ella Mae Corley and two brothers, Iris and Tommy Kelley.

She is survived by her husband, James Skinner of Longview; one daughter and son-in-law, Cherena and Bernard of Detroit, MI, a son, Demetrius Andrews of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Donnie Warren of Tyler and Bertha and Edwin Barnes of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren; an uncle Ossie Lee Stewart of New Jersey, a god-son; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Public viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Victory Funeral Services.
