Ladies luncheon held at Meadowbrook

Meadowbrook Country Club held its Ladies Organizational Luncheon Thursday, Feb. 23. Tables were centered with derricks holding yellow roses. Place mats were copies of a picture of the original country clubhouse. Two large derricks were on each side of the podium. The walls for the ballroom and entrance hall were covered with pictures of the old days at the country club done by Terry Stembridge. Denise Faulkner presided and introduced Grant Boyd, President of the Country Club Board of Directors who inspired us to become active, to use our club and to form a women’s organization. Terry Stembridge was introduced and presented a time line of the history of the club and presented Betty Skipper with a framed picture of her late husband, Jack Skipper. Flint Nelson, Golf Pro, spoke and encouraged the golfers to form a ladies golf committee. Sign up sheets were available for members to sign on which committee they preferred; program, fundraising, house, or decoration. Officers were elected as follows; President Denise Faulkner, co-president and vice president Kristi Boyd, Treasurer Rickie Oubre. Door prizes consisted of 8 free dinners at the club and several framed pictures of early days at the clubhouse. Approximately 40 ladies attended.
