By BRENDA ALLUMS news1@kilgorenewsherald.com

Gregg County Commissioners are expected to approve contracts which will allow the Camp Switch water project to get started.

The commissioners are scheduled to meet Monday at 10 a.m. at the Gregg County Courthouse.

“We’re dealing with for agenda items connected to the Camp Switch project,” said Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt.

Commissioners are expected to approve a contract with Amazing Grants, Inc. for grant management services for the county’s 2005 Texas Community Development Program (TCGP) for the Camp Switch Community.

Commissioners are also expected to consider a request for approval of a contract with Hayes Engineering for engineering services for the TCGP.

The commission is expected to approve a resolution designating individuals as authorized signatories for the Camp Switch project and appoint Mary Kay Thomas as the Labor Standards Officer for the grant and project.

Stoudt said he plans to ask the commission to extend the burn ban.

“We’re still experiencing extremely dry conditions and I think the ban should stay in place until we see a break in the weather,” he said.

In other business, the commissioners are expected to:

 Accept $64,845 in grant funds form the Task Force on Indigent Defense for 2006;

 Consider a request from the sheriff to sell some cars at the Gregg County Auto Auction with the proceeds from the sale to go to the Sheriff’s Office for the purchase of new vehicles;
