Airman Bynum honored for naval service in Rota, Spain

Navy Airman Wesley R. Bynum, son of Penny L. Hyde of Kilgore and Nolen R. Bynum of Palestine, was recently selected as Blue Jacket of the Quarter while serving as an air traffic controller assigned to Naval Station Rota, Spain.

Bynum ensured adequate aeronautical charts, publications and flight planning materials were available for aircrews while assisting them in planning and proper filing of flight plans. Bynum also supervised the receiving, processing, posting and transmitting of flight plans and movement messages.

Bynum is a 2004 graduate of Kilgore High School.
