THE ANNUAL GRISSOM REUNION descendents of Billy and leila Grissom will be held Saturday, July 9 at Cain Center (Gymnasium) located on Hwy. 19 in Athens from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. All relatives and friends are invited to attend and bring a covered-dish for lunch which will be served at noon. PASTOR AND MEMBERS OF HOLY PRAYER APOSTOLIC CHURCH is celebrating Pastor Anniversary, July 9-10. THE FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be July 10 - 13, 2005, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The theme is RACING TO THE FINISH WITH JESUS.Children of all ages will be involved in Bible study, music, crafts, and games. Adults will participate in Bible study and music. EVERYONE IS WELCOME! In addition to Bible study, fellowship, fun and food, an added attraction will bring Bruce Davis and Friends with their street rod and classic cars.

THE WEST RUSK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT will host Meet the Coaches Night on July 11 at 6 p.m. The event will be held at West Rusk Cafeteria and parents of all West Rusk ISD students are invited. There will be a hamburger dinner provided, fellowship and you will meet new coaches and faculty.

THE KHS WAR YEARS REUNION GROUP will meet Tuesday, July 12, at 6 p.m. for their monthly dinner/meeting at Duke’s Airport Cafe, 1037 Hwy. 322, Longview.

KILGORE SOCCER ASSOCIATION announces its Annual General Meeting to be held July 14 at 7 p.m. a tthe Administration Building of Kilgore ISD. All parents, coaches, and other interested parties are invited and encouraged to attend. Elections will be held to fill director positions for those directors whose terms are expiring. ANNUAL HICKORY GROVE CEMETERY MEMORIAL SERVICE will be Friday, July 15. The service will be in the auditorium of Hickory Grove Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Katy and penny Clark performing and Kelly Bryant as speaker. Lunch will follow at noon in the fellowship hall. THE NEW PLAINSMEN QUARTET will perform in concert at Danville United Methodist Church, 2187 Danville Road in Kilgore at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 17. There is no charge and everyone is invited to attend. HOST FAMILIES IN KILGORE are needed for international high school exchange students for the 2005/2006 school year. The students, all between the ages 15 and 18, arrive in August to attend local high schools. They are screened, academically prepared, and English speaking when they arrive. Studnets are also covered by medical insurance and bring their own spending moneyf or personal expenses. Families provide a bed, meals and a caring home environment. We all hold the future of the world in our hands. These outstanding, bright teens are sponsored by Educational Resource Development Trust (ERDT). Families are able to review student applications and select the student they feel will best match their own interests. LAIRD MEMORIAL AUXILIARY VOLUNTEERS desperately need paperback books to sell. The money goes for indigent medication. The group is very low on books and need more donations desperately. The books can be dropped off at the gift shop, at the information station at the hopsital or at the admissions office if the volunteers are not available.

THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF TAKING OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY (TOPS) will meet every Monday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Weigh-in starts at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Mary Helen Craig, the new TOPS leader in Kilgore, said the local program is being revamped and will include more activities and speakers. THE KILGORE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1975 will hold its 30th reunion on the weekend of Oct. 1. Members of the class are urged to long onto the official reunion web site at www.khsclassof75.com for information and registration. KHS classes of 1974 and 1976 are also invited and encouraged to register.
