KHS girls lose first game back
HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
The Kilgore High School girls’ first game back following the holiday break didn’t end as well as they’d hoped. The Lady Bulldogs hit the court for the first time in several days on Wednesday for a rare matinee appearance, but lost to Woden, 43-39. Ashia Kelly led KHS with 14 points, three rebounds, three blocked shots and three steals. LaJohnna Woolridge had nine points, five rebounds, two steals and three assists; Lakelia Williams also scored nine, had four rebounds and two steals; and Tai’Shea Reese had seven points, four rebounds and three assists. The Lady Bulldogs (10-8 overall, 1-2 in District 17-4A play) shot 13 of 35 from the floor, were 3 of 13 from threepoint land and were 4 of 13 from the free throw line. KHS moves back to district play Tuesday with home games against Nacogdoches, beginning with freshmen at 5 p.m. Junior varsity and varsity will follow. There was no word at press time from the KHS boys, participating in the Tiger Invitational at Mount Pleasant. The Bulldogs open district play this season on the road at Nac Tuesday night, also beginning with freshmen at 5.
