‘Casual’ clinic offered for tennis players

Kilgore High School tennis coach, Mac Blackstone held a casual tennis clinic yesterday at the Kilgore High School tennis courts.

Blackstone, who was tennis coach here from 1978 to 1988, replaces Stan McMillan who resigned earlier in the year.

Blackstone said he looks forward to getting the team ready for the regionals in April. “I’ve got a pretty young team which has a lot of potential,” said Blackstone.

Blackstone will be at the KHS tennis courts again on Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. All tennis members from both KHS and Maude Laird Middle School are invited to attend.

Blackstone said he has already began preparing the KHS team for their first match which will be at the end of January.

“Tennis is a game these students can use for the rest of their lives,” said Blackstone. “Sometimes it is hard to get these students motivated to put in the work it takes to do well but I have some very good players,

both men and women this year.”
