Civic GC membes take holiday trek

Civic Garden Club met Wednesday, Dec. 14. The members took a holiday trek to Roseland Plantation near Tyler.

A short business session was held before the tour. The meeting was called to order by Sandee Walters, President, and roll was checked by Martha Clark. The only business discussed was the Christmas project. Donations were taken to help a needy family.

Marcella Harkrider gave a report on the Robin Red Breast in connection with our study of birds.

Members were also reminded of the Litter Hat contest to be conducted at our January meeting.

The tour was conducted by Tim West, who with his wife Carolyn owns Roseland. Mr. West gave a history of the property dating back to Civil War days and brought us up to date on their restoration plans. Much work has already been done with some due to be completed, hopefully by next year.

After the tour was completed, members were on their own for lunch.

Attending were Loel Barber, Wanda Bittick, Roberta Boggs, Martha clark, Alana Nell Farmer, Marcella Harkrider, Betty Hren, Doyce Maywald, Diana Ponder, Louise Raby, Darlene Sanders, Sandee Walters and Dorothy Wilkerson.
