Adams’ home hosts Kilgore Garden Club in November The Kilgore Garden Club met on Nov. 3 at the home of Cynthia Adams with Birdie Barron serving as co-hostess. The meeting was opened with the Gardener’s Prayer read by Helen Goodwin. Martha Lee, former member, was a guest for the meeting. The treasurer’s report was given and approved. It was announced that the Kilgore Area Council of Garden Clubs would meet on Nov. 11 at the home of Peggy Bowne. Under new business, the December meeting was discussed and members were asked to make reservations for the luncheon by Nov. 25. A report on the Central Zone meeting in Mineola was given by Peggy Bowne and Virginia Finklea. A motion was made and passed to make a donation to central headquarters. A report was given on the youth essay and speech contest and names and prizes were read. Future events, such as the convention in Jefferson, a summer workshop in May 2006, and the 2006 Henderson County Garden Club were discussed. The meeting was turned over to Pam Tannehill who introduced Peggy Bowne who presented the program entitled “Little Known Facts about Hummingbirds.” After the adjournment of the meeting, members participated in a silent auction on baked goods that had been provided by the members.
