LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY’S BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING PROJECT, LeTourneau Engineering Global Solutions, also known as “LEGS,” will feature world-renowned mountaineer Tom Whittaker from 7Summits Foundation in an “Evening of Inspiration”. Whittaker will speak of his mountain-climbing exploits on six of the world’s seven highest summits at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in the Glaske Center on the LETU main campus, 2100 S. Mobberly. The event is free and open to the public, however reservations must be made by calling Pam Johnson (903) 233-3802.

PARENTS OF LIBERTY CITY BOY SCOUT TROOP 259 will host an author’s reception and book signing on Sunday, December 11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to honor their Scout Master, Roy Dudley, who has published his first children’s book. The reception will be held at the library inside the Liberty City Community House. The public is invited to attend.

KILGORE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER BOOSTER CLUB will host meet-the-coaches night on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. Come get re-acquainted with KHS girls soccer head coach Heidi Hagan, and meet first-year boys head soccer coach Kris Duplissey. Duplissey, also an assistant coach with the school’s football team, was an assistant last year to former coach Whitney Keeling. All supporters of KHS soccer are invited to Monday’s event; hot dogs, nachos, and Frito pies will be served — the cost will be $3 each, or $10 per family. Also, any under-14 Kilgore Soccer Association youngsters in uniform Monday will eat free. And a drawing will be held for two soccer balls autographed by both the varsity girls and varsity boys teams.

TUESDAY

LOVE OVERFLOWING, fellowship of Christian women from the East Texas area will meet 9:30 a.m. Dec. 8 in Highland Park Assembly of God, 2400 Henderson Blvd. A series of “Women of the Bible” will be presented. for more information call 903-984-7192.

THE DELTA DEBUTANTE PAGEANT will be held Saturday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kilgore High School auditorium. Daddy Rich and Lady Chazz will be performing. Sponsoring this event is the Kilgore alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta.

UNIT 225 OF THE AMERICAN CONTRACT BRIDGE LEAGUE will host its annual Christmas Party on Dec. 10. There will be a catered luncheon provided by Papacita's of Longview at 11:45 followed by the monthly unit game. Awards will be presented to the Unit new Life Masters, Bronze, Silver and Gold Life Masters. The game will be held at the Garden Valley Senior Citizens Building, 1915 Garden Valley Road, Tyler. EXPLORE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE: The Alpha Course will meet each Sunday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Kilgore First Church of the Nazarene, 309 E. Sabine. The Alpha class is a free study group for people initially exploring the Christian faith, those new to the faith, and those who feel they need a good “jump start” to their spiritual life. ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP will meet the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. in Laird Memorial Hospital Conference Room. The group is for caregivers and families caring for someone with Alzheimer’s Disease.
