Workforce board appoints two new members

Two new members were appointed to the East Texas Workforce Board Monday at a meeting of the Chief Elected Officials Board.

Ginger Shipley of Henderson and Tony Cain of Tyler were appointed to the committee.

Glynn Knight, executive director of the East Texas Council of Government, the parent body of the organization, said two positions were open and three applications were received.

In other business, the board approved an amendment to the CEO agreement that will allow a five-member committee to assist with board meeting when a quorum is not present.

“We have problems getting everyone together at the same time,” Knight said. “When you look at the fact that we have 14 county judges and representatives from Tyler and Longview, it’s a big undertaking to get a quorum.”

Knight said the committee will be available to fill in at CEO Board meetings when a quorum is needed.
