GOLF Kilgore men qualify for mid-am
Two Kilgore men have qualified for the Texas State Golf Association (TSGA) Mid-Amateur Tournament, to be played Sept. 16-20 at Brook Hollow Country Club in Dallas. Mike Tate and Alan Clark of Kilgore both qualified for the event last week at Willowbrook Country Club in Tyler. Clark, a former Meadowbrook champion and Arkansas State golfer who led the Meadowbrook Classic this year after the first round, shot a 73 in Tyler to qualify. Tate, a 10-time Meadowbrook men’s club champion, finished with a 74. After qualifying, Tate credited his trainer, Shanna Wood, and his workout regimen for being able to overcome a back injury to get back to playing competitive golf.
