Let’s Trust Him More

“Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take him at his word; Just to rest upon his promise; Just to know, ‘Thus saith the Lord.’ Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him! How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er. Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust him more.”

I love that phrase, how I’ve proved him o’er and o’er. You know, life gives us plenty of opportunities to prove the love and faithfulness of Christ. Prove means to show, to confirm or to demonstrate. I don’t know about you, but I want my entire life to be evidence of His faithfulness.

A couple of months ago my family went through quite a scare. They had to take me to the hospital because I was having chest pains. i stayed over night and had to go through a number of tests...but, thank the Lord it wasn’t a heart attack.

Times like these are great opportunities for Jesus to demonstrate his love and to confirm his promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. They also serve as opportunities for us to prove our trust in the one who is author and finisher of life.

Whether your troubles are physical or spiritual, I want to encourage you to take them to Jesus. Unload them at the foot of the cross. Charles Spurgeon once said this: “Cry out to Jesus in prayer, walk in His fear and trust in His name, and sooner or later, in one way or another He will make a way of escape.”

What we all need is a little more grace so we can trust Him more.
