City will award contract for street surfacing

The Kilgore street department is preparing road surfaces in south Kilgore so the streets can receive a new seal coat.

Tim Hobbs, manager of city’s street department, said roads have been selected and a preparation of leveling rough spots and repairing base failures is already in progress.

Hobbs said the Kilgore City Commission on July 12 is expected to award a contract for the paving job.

“Once the contract is awarded the contractor will have until Aug. 31 to complete the job,” said Hobbs.

Hobbs said streets to beg resurfaced are Florence Street, from Bean Ave. to Peterson Rd., Broadway Blvd. from Bean Ave. to Peterson Rd., Emmons Street from U.S. 259 to dead end, Leach Street from U.S. 259 to dead end, Camp Street from U.S. 259 to dead end, McEntyre Street from Emmons Street to Camp Street, Sunset Ln. from Emmons Street to Camp Street, Boettcher Dr. from Peterson Rd. to dead end and Woodbine from Woodlawn to Paluxy.
