SABINE HIGH SCHOOL commencement

Sabine High School graduates are scheduled to receive diplomas during commencement exercises set for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Dodson Auditorium on the Kilgore College campus.

Katy Ellen Furrh is valedictorian of the Class of 2005. She is the daughter of Bill and Kathy Furrh of Kilgore. During her high school tenure, Furrh was awarded Who’s Who in Pre-AP Geometry and was selected for Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She was chosen as an Elk’s Lodge Student of the Month, received the Kilgore Rotary Club’s Scholar Athlete Award and the Kilgore College All-Region Leadership Award.

She has been an “A” honor roll student throughout high school, served as president of the Sabine High School National Honor Society, secretary of the Student Council and participated in the Gifted and Talented Program for four years where she was a head delegate in the Model U.N.

Furrh participated in varsity volleyball, cheerleading and the dance line. She served as dance line lieutenant for three years. She has also been a member of the Sabine High School band for four years, was chosen for the All-Region Band, and attended state solo and ensemble competitions.

Furrh will graduate as a GLOBE Scholar with Distinction. After graduation, she will attend Texas A&M University where she plans to major in bio-medicall science.

Joshua Alan Raygor, son of John and Barbara Kenna of Kilgore, is this year’s salutatorian. Raygor was chosen for Who’s Who in Algebra II, geometry, precalculus, English I, U. S. History, and biology. He has been on the “A” honor roll for four years and is vice president of the National Honor Society.

Raygor was a member of the varsity football team on which he served as captain. He will graduate as a GLOBE Scholar with Distinction and will be attending the University of Texas at Dallas where he will major in business administration.

Honor graduates, those earning an academic grade point average of 4.0 or above, are Jessica Ann Blackstone, Heath Elvis Burns, William Warren Clarke, Beth Pearl Goins, Kelly Arthur Hutchison, Jessica Ann Kelly, Brandon Charles Love, Jenifer Michelle Modisette, Verenice Ordorica, Tara Michelle Powdrill, Laci Renee Roberts, Gavin Elliott Samples, Mickea Anne Smith, Brenton DeLoyd Thurston, David Wade Wilson and Jessica Denise Woody.
