Sabine ISD is continuing construction on a new softball field but inclement weather has slowed progress. At a board meeting Monday night, trustees discussed the project and how long it may take to complete.
Rahab’s Retreat and Ranch recently celebrated their second anniversary and founder Teresa Richenberger told Kilgore Lions Club Thursday about progress the service has made. “We just hit our two-year mark of being open,” Richenberger said. “We have sustained ourselves without any help or assistance from the state. We now run about $30,000 a month and God has met us every step of the way.”
Debbie McCubbin has enjoyed her year as First Lady of Kilgore but is excited to pass the honor on to the next nominee. At the annual First Lady Valentine’s luncheon held at First Christian Church Wednesday, McCubbin spoke to other First Ladies, recounting her year holding the 2018 title.
It wasn’t how they wanted to finish the season – winning would’ve been much more preferable – but the Kilgore High School boys basketball team is about to join the school’s girls in the University Interscholastic League’s Class 4A playoffs. The Bulldogs lost their final regular season game Tuesday night at home, a 51-49 loss to a Henderson team that Kilgore had beaten earlier this year.
Undeterred by frigid weather, a group of high schoolers from Kilgore and Sabine dove head-first into the challenges of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award this month. Heading out on the weekend excursion, Rotarian Tom Sartor said, the teens are usually pretty quiet, unsure of what lies ahead. “Coming back, they talk all the way,” swapping stories about the experience.
